TWAIN for Ricoh RDC-7 digital camera (TWAIN Acquire: for Windows)



This TWAIN source enables applications that run on Windows 95, Windows 98,Windows Me, 
Windows NT4.0 and Windows 2000 to read image data directly from the Ricoh RDC-7 
digital camera and open DSC files and EXIF files stored on the disk.

Compatible digital camera: RDC-7
Operating system : Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT4.0, Windows 2000 (English version)
Memory : Windows 95/98/Me  32MB (96MB or more is recommended)
         Windows NT4.0  64MB (96MB or more is recommended)
         Windows 2000  128MB (256MB or more is recommended)
Connection port : Serial, USB (Windows 98, Windows Me,Windows 2000 only)

=Note=
To connect via USB, install the "RDC-7 USB Driver" separately.
(Use the dedicated cable included in the package.)

Software checked for operation:	Adobe Photoshop 5.5 
(Software that was checked for operation does not guarantee operation.)


1.Installation

To install, please select "Setup.exe" from the "disk1" folder inside the 
"TWAIN" folder.


2.How to use TWAIN

(1)Select TWAIN from an application.

Connect the computer and RDC-7 with the USB cable or serial cable.

= Note =
*When connected via USB, the camera remains in standby mode regardless 
of the position of the mode dial on the camera.

*To connect via serial (RS232-C), turning the mode dial on the camera to 
the "SET" position and specify "Serial PC connection" to set the camera in 
the connection standby mode.

Select "RICOH DIGITAL CAMERA RDC-7" from the TWAIN compatible device selection menu
in the application.


(2)Start TWAIN from the application.
Specifying "Input from TWAIN compatible device" in the application opens 
the "RICOH Digital Camera" TWAIN panel.


(3)Download images directly from the camera.

1)Set the connection conditions.
Set the connection conditions from the option panel on the TWAIN panel of 
the "RICOH Digital Camera".

-Select the camera from the CAMERA dialog box (RDC-7).
-Select the port from the PORT dialog box (E.g. USB/COM1, COM2, c)
-Select a speed from the SPEED dialog box (E.g. 115200bps, c).
(For USB connection, SPEED cannot be specified. It will be set automatically.)

2)Connect to the camera.
After setting the conditions, set the CAMERA (pictogram) button to ON to 
start the process to connect to the camera. Once the camera is connected, 
the CAMERA panel is displayed.


3)Select the image to be downloaded.
Select the memory in which the images to be downloaded are stored from 
Memory (internal memory) or CARD (Smart Media).
Decide which image to download, set the SELECT button to ON, and press 
the OK button to start downloading the image.

Depending on the application, a saving format selection dialog box may be displayed.
File formats that can be specified are EXIF (*.JPG, *.TIF) or only still pictures that
comply with DSC (*.J61).


(4)Download images stored in a drive (hard disk, floppy disk, PC card) directly.
Press the FILE (pictogram) button to display the thumbnail screen. To change 
folders or drives, specify from the folder selection or drive selection dialog box.
Then, select a file format from EXIF or DSC for the images to be downloaded.
Images will be displayed as thumbnails. Select the image to be downloaded 
using the mouse, and press the OK button. Downloading of the image to the 
application starts.



3.Precautions
(1)To use RDC-7 on the USB port, the USB driver must be installed beforehand.

(2)For downloading using TWAIN, only EXIF- or DSC-compliant still pictures may be specified. 
Neither audio files nor movie files may be specified.

(3)If multiple images are selected, TWAIN processing may stop after a single image file 
has been transferred depending on the application specifications.
