RDC-i700 USB Driver (Windows 2000) README.TXT ==

This driver is used to connect the Image Capturing Device RDC-i700 using a 
Windows USB interface.

In addition to the respective operation manuals, be sure to read the following 
caution items before installing this driver and making the connection.

Important
* USB drivers are available for Windows 98 and Windows 2000. Be sure to select 
the correct driver.

1. About the operating environment
* Compatible camera: RDC-i700

== Driver for Windows 2000 ==

Caution
Only system administrators have the right to install drivers in Windows 2000.

* Compatible personal computer: Personal computers equipped with an USB port, 
in which Microsoft Windows 2000 is pre-installed and for which the manufacturer
guarantees USB port operation.
* OS environment: Windows 2000.
* Memory: 128 MB or more (recommended 256 MB or more).
* Connecting cable: Use the special cable provided.

Important
* This USB driver can only be used in the specified OS environment.
* Personal computers that have been upgraded from other than the specified 
Windows environment are not supported because the USB function may not operate 
correctly.
* Connection to USB ports equipped using the expansion function (PCI bus, etc.) 
cannot be supported.
* Operation may not be correct due to a change in the OS environment or 
installation of additional software service packs, etc.


* Operation may not be correct when used in combination with other USB devices 
such as HUB, etc.
* A larger memory capacity is recommended for handling large RDC-i700 
non-compressed files and motion picture files.

2. Driver installation procedure

* BE SURE TO READ THIS SECTION.

Before setup
<> Exit all applications that are running and save any necessary data.
<> Disconnect all other Plug & Play USB devices that are connected.
<> Plug & Play installation is not possible. Always execute "Setup.exe" to 
install.
<> For detailed installation procedure, see "Connecting a Personal Compurer 
operation manual."

2-1. Setup from CD-ROM
Double click "Setup.exe" in the CD-ROM and install.

<> Do not connect the camera until installation has been completed. If the 
camera is already connected and the power is on, follow the procedure on page 
169 in "Connecting to a Personal Computer operation manual" and repeat the 
setup.
<> Once again make sure that the "Win2000" folder has been selected.

Important
<> Only system administrators have the right to install drivers in Windows 2000.
<> Never specify the "Win98" folder.

(1) Double click on "Setup.exe" to start installation of the driver.

(2) First, connect the camera and personal computer with the special USB cable 
provided and turn on the power. Windows will verify that the camera is 
connected, the Windows "New Hardware" screen will be displayed and building of 
the driver database will start.
Wait until this operation is completed.

Supplement
Database building is displayed only once when the first connection is made. It 
will not be displayed for the second and following connections.

3. Usage cautions
(1) Never disconnect the cable or turn off the camera power during data 
communication with the personal computer. Such actions can adversely affect the 
camera or personal computer.
(2) Whenever possible, use the AC adapter instead of the camera battery.
Considerable time is required for transferring large files such as RDC-i700 
uncompressed files and animated image files. The camera and personal computer 
can be adversely affected if power is lost during communication.
(3) The camera will not operate with the power supplied from the USB port.

Caution items
(1) Always save important data.
Data can be lost if the user mis-operates this product.
